Client: Miyaco Odori Festival | Kyoto
The extraordinary Miyako Odori show, which literally translates to "capital dances," as Kyoto was the country's ancient capital, is an annual must-see performance by Maiko and Geiko of the Gion district.
The goal was to capture the traditional essence of the event while delicately adding a modern style. The stylistic orientation looks at the balance of elements and finesse of forms. Yin and yang, black and white, with a drop of color representing the often forgotten purity and delicacy of these arts.
