Client: Oomi Teien - Japanese Zen Garden

When Mr. Hiromu Terashita, the chairman of Oomi Teien, visited the Sankei Garden once during his apprentice period, he realized that, rather than making a total change, adding a subtle change to a historical object could dramatically improve the look and feel of it and give new life to the object. Inspired by his thought, we decided to leave the pronunciation of the original historical name "Oomi Teien" as is, but to change one Chinese character from 『 庭 (sound: tei / meaning: garden) 』to『 綴 (sound: tei / meaning: write, compose) 』Since the target audience include foreigners, the description of the new name will include both Japanese and English.
Oomi Teien has inherited the Japanese art of landscaping. From designing the garden to placing stones, pruning trees and selecting mosses, we use techniques that have been handed down from generation to generation. Hiromu Terashita, who studied under Kyoto's master gardener, Saichi Kojima, has passed on his skills to the next generation. Today, all the staff members are "garden masters" and take pride in their work, even in the smallest details.
"We create harmonious, sustainable and beautiful gardens, that integrate more deeply with the surrounding buildings over time, and will remain fresh and vibrant for many years. We create gardens with a future, gardens that grow into their true selves."
Mission: realizing a brand identity that embodies the essential traits of Oomi Teien: its delicacy, closeness to nature, Japanese tradition, and professionalism. Through a fully custom logotype—reflecting the story behind the name—and a color palette of sandy tones, a graceful and subtle essence emerges. The lines, reminiscent of the art of Japanese Zen gardens and Zen religious philosophy, become fundamental graphic elements.
